The name of my company, Zia Advisory, represents so many different aspects of my core purpose and core values, as well as my background.
I was born and raised in New Mexico and I was drawn to the idea of having something that represented my background. The Zia Sun is the symbol on the New Mexico state flag.
According to the New Mexico State Historians Office, the Zia sun is “a circular sun with linear rays extending in four directions. To the Zia people and other cultures, four is a significant number. It is embodied in the four directions of the earth, the four seasons of the year, the four times of the day: sunrise, noon, evening and night, and in life’s four divisions of childhood, youth, adulthood and old age. Everything is bound together in a circle of life, without beginning, without end. The Zia also believe that in this Great Brotherhood of all things, humans have four sacred obligations: they must develop a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit and a devotion to the welfare of their people.”
I believe that everything in a company revolves around its financials. Culture, people, marketing, business strategy – all of these components are dependent upon and also ultimately affect the financial situation of a company. So, everything is bound together in a circle. It is my role to help businesses understand the financial ramifications of each and every decision made, from retaining a non-performing employee to purchasing a new piece of equipment.
The idea of sacred obligations also appealed to me. My core values are all about serving my clients – developing trusted relationships and being devoted to their welfare by asking the hard questions, always giving them my best service and helping in any way I can. I want to be an integral part of their team and help everyone I come in contact with shine a little brighter!
